Last night I made the hair-brained decision to go to Cherry Beach for sunset. The traffic was unbelievable. With our population explosion this city is almost non-functional except during the off hours. Anyhow, I made it. And managed to get this interesting photo, which I digitally recomposed with Photoshop Elements to give something of The Scream effect.
I recently got a new tablet and haven’t really tried out the camera. Seems to be just adequate but it doesn’t really matter. Was having a serene moment last night with this candle. Now that the nights are getting longer and the days shorter, it’s time to reflect on the cycles of life. The past, the present and the future.
Btw, first few lyrics are cut off in this video… “Something you can’t hide…” There are other videos of this song but I really dig this 1970s Paris concert. Maybe I was “there” in spirit. Who knows. Would have been about 8 yrs at the time.
After a downtown Mass I spied this prayer card and almost took it. But then I though, no no, that’s just not right. Some sweet soul left it here and it belongs at the foot of the statue where it was placed. So I took this photo, instead. Turned out way nicer than just the card by itself.
The statue is this old, slightly beat up statue of Christ with an open heart. It always seems to look away from me, as if I’m doing something wrong. But it’s probably just the positioning. That, and the fact that it’s on a stand, much higher than floor level.
Today I felt like I did the right thing by not taking this card home with me.
I’ve been having a ball playing around with all sorts of new software. I recently switched my old “frankenstein” computer (the one I made on Halloween out of two dead computers) to Xubuntu 16.04, which is a Linux operating system.
It’s been a great adventure. Like learning how to do computers all over again. Luckily there are friendly forums, which always helps!
There’s a lot of interesting free software that works well with Linux. One is Slimjet browser, which I’m using now (I haven’t tested it on Windows yet). Another is the GIMP, a photo editor that also works with Windows.
Anyhow… here’s a little something created on the GIMP… thinking of that old madman David Bowie while doing this. Well, I guess he’s an eternally young madman now.
I think the lyric “something in the sky” is in one of his songs from the LP Outside. But I’d have to check on that.
Sorry to anyone who has liked my stuff here or at Earthpages. I WILL get back to see what you have been up to. Just that learning Linux and related software has been pretty time-consuming. As I say, like learning computers all over again. 🙂
