For those of us who grew up here, this old sign has a lot of sentimental value. I used to go here as a kid and watch the double bills. Two movies for two dollars. Can’t find deals like that any more!
The new owner (or maybe the old owner, I’m not sure) is quite a nice guy. I chatted with him one night. He owns another theater, just down the road. The inside of this theater is about as up-to-date as the outside. But people still go. An old north Toronto landmark, probably slated for destruction in the not to distant future. A definite candidate for my 21st century “chronicles.”
Thanks. Amazing how many memories are wrapped up in stone! Regards Thom.
