Scientists urged to think out of the box

Here’s a story that basically says something I’ve considered for a long time. If – and that is if – extraterrestrial life exists, there’s no reason to assume that it would require the same kind of elements (e.g. oxygen and water) or take the same general form (e.g. flesh and bone) as life on Earth.

Why is it that science and the rest of the world usually take so long to think out of the box?
