William James’ well-known classic is about to become even more well-known. It’s now online, thanks to some French psychoanalysts. James looked at different kinds of religious experience from a Protestant, scholarly point of view many years ago. His brother was the famous American writer, Henry James. We owe them both a debt of gratitude. But for me, William meant more.
Perhaps the most striking thing the reader of ‘The Varieties’ will note is the similarity between the past and the present.
