cosmic mother

cosmic mother, a photo by earthpages on Flickr.

When I was in Ottawa a young artist, Karen Ritchie, living across the hall in my building gave this to me. She simply said “this is for you.” The title is something I’ve just added. As far as I know, it’s untitled. This is a film photograph of a watercolor painting.

Sliding into the new year

Things get so hectic round here that I just have to let earthpages slide over the holidays. Still, I love this time of year—after Christmas between New Years. Reminds me I guess of being a kid and having free time to play with all my new toys and gadgets.

So now I’m playing with a new toy, the computer. Been getting into font art. I’ve fiddled with fonts in the past for earthpages banners, so know some of the basics for getting a certain look. But over the past few days I’ve been trying new things. Some of my efforts might be “fails” but others, if I do say so, are promising.

It’s all at Pinterest. Another new pastime that competes with (hopefully compliments) my earthpages time: http://pinterest.com/earthpages/font-fun/

Was just browsing through Flickr, looking for some ideas for Earthpages’ header, and came across this interesting drawing…

The Prayer of the Frog

I was just going through flickr photos to find something for an earthpages.ca entry on prayer. While this wouldn’t be appropriate for that, I thought it was so good (and amusing) I had to post it here!

Inkscape – another try

Playing around with INKSCAPE

Inkscape is freeware. I stumbled upon it last nite while looking for a good program for converting bitmap to vector images. I’m not sure if Inkscape can do this yet, but I found that it’s pretty impressive with text. So here’s a Merry Christmas message after playing around for a night. I’m sure competent masters could do much better with this great program. But here’s my first attempt.
